Oil, Lube and Filter Service

How often should I change my oil?

Most vehicle manufacturers recommend changing the oil every 3 months or 5000km in passenger car and light truck gasoline engines.

A new engine with little or no wear can probably get by on 10,000km oil changes. But as an engine accumulates kilometers, blowby increases. This dumps more unburned fuel into the crankcase which dilutes the oil. This causes the oil to break down. So if the oil isn't changed often enough, you can end up with accelerated wear and all the engine problems that come with it (loss of performance and fuel economy, and increased emissions and oil consumption).

  • Replace oil with up to 5 quarts of quality motor oil
  • Replace oil filter with a quality filter
  • Visually inspect brake fluid and antifreeze/coolant reservoir levels
  • Inspect air filtration system, wiper blades and lights
  • Check condition of belts
  • Lubricate chassis (when applicable)
  • Check and set tires to the proper pressure
  • Check and top off the following fluids:
    • transmission/transaxle fluid
    • differential fluid
    • power steering fluid
    • windshield washer fluid
    • battery water
We will also perform a service review, which includes a review of the air filtration system and the vehicle manufacturer's severe service recommendations based upon the vehicle's current mileage.
